Final Word
Thank you for your participation and for taking the time to focus on the trees!
I, and many with me, for example, biologists, anthropologists, philosophers, climate researchers and artists, believe it is important to be with trees and that we should see them for what they are, not for what we want them to be. Trees are vital to us in so many different ways. We know this and I believe we need to feel this in our bodies.
Maybe you have started to feel the trees as a memory in your body, or they have affected you in some other way. Maybe when you get home, you will want to go outside and find a favourite tree, or maybe you already have one. Sit down next to it, lean into it and just be with it. Listen, feel and see what happens around you and within you.
Possibly, you will want to get more involved with forests and trees by finding out more facts, spreading your knowledge and thoughts, and seeing trees as being vital to protect, preserve and leave in peace.
Once again, thank you so much for sharing my experiences!
With warm wishes,
Anna
Moments with Trees was created as part of a two-year Master’s project within the Master’s Programme Contemporary Performative Arts (CPA) at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg.
I have conducted two years of field work, researching trees and their complex movements and elasticity through my own body’s elasticity. I have explored how the relationship with trees can be embodied and how their movements can be transferred to the dancing body. It has given me a renewed relationship with and new perspectives regarding trees.
Through this walk, I want to share some of my experiences. I want to offer the time to have a poetic experience and to reflect about the vital nature of trees. To breathe, feel, and gradually soften.
